Study abstract:The current study aimed to use the coupled inquiry cycle in teaching science to develop cognitive balance and emotional intelligence for the sixth primary school students. The study sample consisted of (42) Sixth grade students at Fatima Annan School to represent the experimental group and (42) students at Abdel Wahab Motawea School to represent the control group, affiliated with the New Cairo Education Administration in Cairo Governorate. The researcher prepared an activity booklet for the students, and a teacher’s guide for the units “Forces and Motion, and Electrical Energy” in light of the stages of the coupled investigation cycle, and prepared the study tools (the cognitive aspect test for cognitive balance, and the attitude test to measure the behavioral aspect of cognitive balance and the emotional intelligence scale: prepared by the researcher). The results of the statistical analysis using the t-test and calculating the effect size and Eta square showed that teaching science using the coupled inquiry cycle had a positive effect on developing cognitive balance and emotional intelligence. The results were discussed and some recommendations related to the results of the study and its areas were presented. The researcher also suggested conducting more studies and research.
