Occupational Health of Faculty Members at Assiut University in Light of the Ergonomic Approach (A Field Study)

Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the reality of applying the principles of the ergonomic approach to the work environment at Assiut University from the point of view of faculty members, and to develop a proposed vision for spreading the culture of ergonomics among faculty members at Assiut University. The research used the descriptive approach and the questionnaire as a research tool, which was applied to a sample of (92) faculty members at Assiut University.

The research reached a set of results, the most important of which are: The application of the principles of the ergonomic approach to the work environment at Assiut University from the perspective of faculty members was achieved to a medium degree. The dimension of logistical health and safety came in first place from the perspective of the total sample and the two sample categories as well, with a medium degree of achievement. The dimension of mental health and safety came in second place from the perspective of the total sample as well as the theoretical colleges sample, with a medium degree of achievement.The dimension of physical health and safety came in fifth place from the perspective of the total sample as well as the theoretical colleges, with a medium degree of achievement.

The research presented a proposed vision for spreading the culture of ergonomics among faculty members at Assiut University. This vision included a philosophy, foundations, objectives, procedures, and guarantees for implementation.
