Abstract

The current research aimed at identifying the possibility of classifying students at Faculty of Education in Assiut into differentiated profiles according to achievement emotions and the relationship between achievement emotions and academic achievement, detecting the prevailing achievement emotions level among the research sample, and finally detecting the statistically significant differences between achievement emotions and academic achievement according to gender, academic level, academic specialization, emotions profiles. The basic sample consisted of (1222) male and female students (M= 20.69; SD= 1.29), administered A short version of the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire (AEQ-S; prepared by Bieleke et al., 2021; translated by the researcher). Based on the descriptive approach (correlational and comparative), the research results reached the possibility of classifying the research sample into two differentiated profiles according to positive and negative emotions: the first profile (individuals are high in positive and low in negative emotions), and the second profile (individuals are low in positive and high in negative emotions); a statistically significant positive correlation between academic achievement and positive emotions, and a statistically significant negative correlation between academic achievement and negative emotions, and also between positive and negative emotions. The research found a high level of enjoyment, hope, pride, and anger, while the level of anxiety and hopelessness was low. Finally, the results showed statistically significant differences in academic achievement and negative emotions on gender, in academic achievement only on academic level, in academic achievement and positive emotions on academic specialization, and in academic achievement, positive and negative emotions on emotions profiles.
