Abstract

The aim of the research was to reveal the effectiveness of pivotal response training in reducing self-Injurious behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder, and to test the continued effectiveness of pivotal response training in reducing self-Injurious behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder after a period of one month. The sample consisted of a group of (8) male children with autism spectrum disorder in Kayan Center for Training and Developing Children's Skills in Mallawi Center, Minya Governorate. The ages of the experimental sample (n=8) ranged between (4-9) years with an average age of (6.54) years and a standard deviation of (1.33), The study tools included the pivotal response-based on a program (prepared by the researcher), the self- Injurious behavior scale (prepared by the researcher), and the Gilliam Rating Scale for Diagnosing Symptoms and Severity of Autism Disorder GARS-3 (translation and Arabization/ Adel Abdullah Muhammad, and Abeer Abu Al-Majd, (2020), The results showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the average ranks of the scores of the pre- and post-measurements on the self- Injurious behavior scale in the direction of the post-measurement, while the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the average ranks of the scores of the post- and follow-up measures after a month had passed on the self- Injurious behavior scale.
