Abstract

The aim of the current research is to build a proposed program in geography based on some dimensions of the global mentality and measure its impact on developing some future thinking skills among students of the preparatory stage. The research group consisted of 34 third year of the preparatory stage. The research used an experimental design that relied on one group with pre- and post-measurement. A list of some dimensions of the global mentality was prepared, which will be included in the proposed program. A list of future thinking skills that must be developed among third-year preparatory school students was also prepared, then the scientific content was built in light of the list of dimensions of the global mentality previously identified. Then the research tools were built, represented by testing future thinking skills, and the test was applied to the research group before the research experiment was conducted, and the future-thinking skills test was applied. The significance of the differences between the average scores of the research group in the repeated measurements of the future-thinking skills test was calculated. The results confirmed the presence of a large effect size in the scores of the pre- and post-applications of the future thinking skills test, as the effect size value reached 6.09. This high value is attributed to the application of the proposed program based on the dimensions of global mentality in developing future thinking skills among third year preparatory school students.
