A future vision to meet the social demand for university education in Egypt in the light of some Global models

Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the reality of meeting the social demand for university education, and some global trends and models, in order to benefit from them in Egypt. Therefore, the conceptual and intellectual framework of the social demand for university education was addressed, represented in its concept, philosophy, stages of its definition, advantages, and disadvantages as One of the most important approaches to educational planning, as well as identifying the forces and factors influencing the social demand for university education,, then identifying the drawbacks of increasing social demand for university education. The most important modern trends and global models in meeting the social demand for university education were also identified, including the trend towards privatization of university education, which supports the independence of universities financially and administratively, and takes multiple forms that vary between severe privatization such as private universities, moderate privatization such as private universities, and simple privatization such as new programs in universities. There is also a trend towards adopting open university education formats, such as virtual universities, international universities (borderless universities), third-generation universities, and fourth-generation universities, and finally the trend towards establishing alliances and partnerships between universities and productive institutions, represented by technological universities, and corporate universities. Some international models were presented for meeting the social demand for university education, and a future vision was built to open new paths to meet the social demand for university education in light of some global models.
