The Reality of Practicing the Culture of Dialogue Among Students of the College of Basic Education in Kuwait and the Role of Faculty Members in Promoting it

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the reality of practicing the culture of dialogue among students of the College of Basic Education in the State of Kuwait and the role of faculty members in promoting it, from student’s point of view. To achieve the objectives of the study a questionnaire of (35) items was developed by the researchers, covering three domains, and distributed to a random sample of (815) students at the College of Basic Education. Results showed that the degree of practicing the culture of dialogue among students related to the domain of practicing the culture of dialogue with their colleagues was high, while it was medium in the domain of practicing the culture of dialogue with faculty members, and a medium degree in the total score of the two domains, while it was high in the domain of the role of faculty members in promoting the culture of dialogue.

Furthermore, results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the degree of students’ practicing the culture of dialogue with faculty members and in the role of faculty members in promoting culture of dialogue among students attributed to gender and academic level, where there was a statistically significant difference in the degree of students’ practicing the culture of dialogue with their colleagues attributed to gender, and in favour of female.
