Using Visual representations by computer – assisted instruction to solve verbal problems And its effect on reducing cognitive load and improving attitude towards mathematics for four primary pupils with learning disabilities(case study)

Abstract

The current study aimed at investing effectiveness of the computer assisted training program based on visual representations in reducing cognitive load and its effect on improving the attitude towards math among fourth-grade primary school pupils with math learning disabilities. The study followed the experimental approach represented by the A-B single case design followed by a follow-up measurement. The study sample consisted of 3 pupils with math learning disabilities in fourth-grade primary school at El badari educational administration. Tools of the study included math achievement test prepared by research team, the cognitive load test prepared by research team,the attitude towards math scale prepared by Kiss (2018) ,arabization and modification by research team, progressive matrices test: standardization by Ahmed Osman (1988), a computer assisted training program based on visual representations prepared by team research The results of the study showed that there is an effective positive effect from using the computer assisted training program based on visual representations in reducing cognitive load and improving the attitude towards math among four primary pupils with math learning disabilities.
